Saludos amigos!
I hope you’re all doing well! In 3 days I hit a month in the field so that’s pretty cool! Time is flying by so fast. So here’s the deal: I wrote up some things to send out in my email, but after I wrote it up and read it over, I decided not to send it. For some reason it didn’t feel right but I’m not sure why. I don’t have a lot of time to write this week and I honestly just don’t feel like writing a lot. So I’m just gonna K.I.S.S. you all (Keep It Simple Stupid). Here’s a quick update. 😘
This past week we had Zone conference in person and I went on exchanges with Elder Strong. It was good and I learned a lot. Haha sorry I know that’s vague. Not a lot has happened, but me and Elder Raymond tried street contacting the other day and were able to find someone who was interested. It was a good spiritual experience and a miracle! I was able to testify about how our message changes lives because it has changed mine. Sunday was my birthday and I turned 20 so that’s cool. I’m finally 2 decades old, woot woot! This morning, our district went and played mini golf. But those were the highlights of this past week.
Because this email is short and I don’t have tons of time, I want to talk about the most important thing I can talk about and that is Jesus Christ.
I want everyone to know that I have a testimony of Jesus Christ. I know that He lives! He is truly our Savior and Redeemer. He loves us with a perfect love. His love is so deep, so expansive, so wide, that nothing can separate us from it. His love breaks barriers, heals hearts, mends souls, and makes us whole. His arms are always open, ready to receive us as we turn to Him, ready to pick us back up if we stumble or fall. He is always and unfailingly there. I would like to share the words of one of my favorite hymns, called “Come Unto Jesus.” These words echo my testimony:
Come unto Jesus, ye heavy laden, Careworn and fainting, by sin opressed. He'll safely guide you unto that haven Where all who trust him may rest. Come unto Jesus; He’ll ever heed you, Though in the darkness you’ve gone astray. His love will find you and gently lead you From darkest night into day. Come unto Jesus; He’ll surely hear you, If you in meekness plead for his love. Oh, know you not that angels are near you From brightest mansions above? Come unto Jesus from ev’ry nation, From ev’ry land and isle of the sea. Unto the high and lowly in station, Ever he calls, “Come to me.”
I love Jesus Christ. He has already done so much for me, and continues to do so each and every day. I promise you that He is there. I invite all of you to reach out to your Savior, Brother, and Friend. Turn to Christ, and come unto Him! I promise that if you do, He will give you the strength to meet life’s challenges and continue onward.
I wish you the very best this week.
Lots of love,
-Elder Gifford
